Chow Boon is a General Partner at Altara Ventures. He is a seasoned investor, entrepreneur, and business manager, and currently sits on multiple boards, providing strategic and business guidance to companies.
Chow Boon began his career in 1984 at Hewlett-Packard and, in 1991, co-founded Omni Electronics, an electronics manufacturing services (EMS) company. In 1995, to complement the EMS offering, he founded Eteq Components, an electronic components distribution company. Both companies were listed in 1997 as part of Omni Industries, where he served as an Executive Director. The group grew to approximately US$1 billion in revenue by 2001, before Omni Industries was acquired by Celestica Inc.
Since 2006, Chow Boon has managed private equity funds providing growth-stage capital to SMEs in the manufacturing, information and communications technology (ICT), services, logistics, and consumer sectors across Southeast Asia. He has added value through strategic planning, regional and global expansion, operational efficiency improvements, and sourcing of key operational resources.
Chow Boon holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Singapore and an Executive MBA from Golden Gate University, California.
